We are pleased to announce the release on 11th May of ‘Set the Weather Fair: Seasons’, a new album of reinterpretations of Digitonal's 2020 studio album by a diverse range of electronica artists. It runs a gamut of styles from Proswell's stark ambient take on the title track, to Aeon Cub's angular IDM version of The End is Just the Beginning.

Today we share with you the first single, where ambient legends Marconi Union deliver an icy cool take on the ambitious track Gold of the Azure, bringing out the minimalist arpeggios of the original into their trademark languid ambient soundworld.

The original version is a 10 minute multi-part neo-classical and electronica piece building to a clarinet virtuoso solo featuring Andy Dobson, founder member of Digitonal, working for the first time with his new electronica partner Dom Graveson on the original album. This shorter reinterpretation of the track combines intense melody and soundscapes from the outset to create massive depth and drama with a single beat, then fusing that with the beautiful clarinet solo in isolation mid-track, leading to a return of accompanying beats, swirling synths and keyboards, and a quiet clarinet resolution.

Perfect start. Perfect ending.
